Is Playlet worth it? The quick verdict

Playlet is worth it mainly as an ad-supported app. Our ranking labels it the "Best ad-supported option", because rewarded-ad unlocks make slow free viewing possible. It is also one of the few apps here whose store list shows both a coin table and a clearly labelled monthly pass. That makes costs easier to plan than on apps that list only unlabelled items.

Playlet is a vertical short-drama streaming app. Its App Store name is "Playlet: Watch Short Dramas&TV". The seller is MicroShowtime Limited. On Google Play the developer is "MICROSHOWTIME", at Rm 11, 22/F Global Gateway Tower, 61-63 Wing Hong St, Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong, with a +886 (Taiwan) phone number.

Who owns Playlet?

Playlet is owned by MicroShowtime Limited, and no parent group is confirmed in our sources. A search snippet from playletmedia.com once named a CEO, "Zhou Jian", formerly of Huanju/YY. That page now returns a 404, so treat the name as reported and unverified. By comparison, DramaBox's publisher, STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD., reports to Beijing Dianzhong Technology, a company founded in 2011 whose chairman speaks publicly.

When did Playlet launch?

Playlet launched in late 2023. It was first listed on Google Play on 18 Nov 2023 and released on iOS on 4 Dec 2023. That is about seven months after DramaBox (April 2023). The app is actively maintained: version 3.29.0 came out on 25 Sep 2026, the day before our snapshot.

How can you spend less on Playlet?
