Is NetShort worth it in 2026?

NetShort is worth it for viewers who want a well-rated app with offline viewing, a big dubbed catalog in many languages and a low-cost way in through the $5.99 weekly VIP. Its 4.7★ average on both the App Store and Google Play is one of the most consistent rating profiles in our ranking.

NetShort is less worth it if you accidentally land on its top weekly tier: $29.99 a week adds up to $1,559.48 over a year (TopDrama.app calculation). It is also a younger company with less public financial data than DramaBox, whose profitability and revenue are documented by analysts.

What is NetShort and who owns it?

NetShort is a vertical short drama app streaming minute-long episodes of romance, revenge and fantasy series, many of them dubbed into multiple languages. It is published by NETSTORY PTE. LTD., registered at 36 Robinson Road, City House, Singapore.

One secondary source names "Maiya Media" as NetShort's parent; our primary sources show only NETSTORY PTE. LTD., so that ownership link is reported but unverified. By comparison, DramaBox's publisher STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD. is also Singapore-registered, with Beijing Dianzhong Technology (founded 2011) as its documented parent.

When did NetShort launch?

NetShort launched in July 2024 — its iOS release date is 12 July 2024. That makes it the youngest of the five big apps in our top tier, more than a year younger than DramaBox (April 2023) and nearly two years younger than ReelShort (August 2022).

How big is NetShort?

NetShort is one of the fastest-growing short drama apps. Sensor Tower's June 2026 report ranked it #3 by downloads in Q1 2026, with installs up 196% quarter on quarter, and our research notes that FreeReels and NetShort have overtaken DramaBox in download momentum. On Google Play it has passed 100M installs.

Revenue is smaller. Our research summary of Sensor Tower describes NetShort's in-app revenue as growing about 10% year on year, and a Naavik estimate cited in secondary research puts its Q1 2026 in-app revenue at about $52M — against roughly $140M for DramaBox in the same quarter. The $52M figure is reported, not confirmed by a primary source.

NetShort uses the standard coin, ad and VIP model: the opening episodes of each series are free, daily check-ins and rewarded ads earn coins, and a weekly VIP unlocks the catalog. Users report that one rewarded ad earns 100 coins and that episodes cost 50–100 coins, both unverified figures.

Does NetShort have ads?

NetShort's website advertises "No Ads" alongside a claim of "45000+ viral short dramas," yet our app data and user reports describe ad unlocks that pay coins. The likely reading is that ads are optional rewarded ads rather than forced breaks, but NetShort does not explain the difference, so expect some ads if you use the free route.

Is NetShort free?

NetShort is free to download and free for the opening episodes of each series, with ad unlocks and daily check-in coins as the free way to continue. Blog guides claim 3–5 free episodes per series, but NetShort publishes no official number, so treat that as unverified.

How much does NetShort cost?

NetShort's weekly VIP costs $5.99, $19.99, $24.99 or $29.99 on the US App Store, the widest weekly range of the big apps. The $5.99 tier is the cheapest item explicitly labeled "Weekly" among the top five apps, tied with GoodShort (DramaBox lists a $5.99 "Membership" item, but Apple does not show its billing period), while the $29.99 tier is among the most expensive.

Apple shows only ten purchase items and never states which features each weekly tier includes, so check exactly what a tier unlocks before paying. The 52-week figures are a TopDrama.app calculation, not NetShort prices.

How many coins does a NetShort episode cost?

NetShort users report 50–100 coins per episode, and 100 coins per rewarded ad, which would mean roughly one ad per episode. NetShort publishes no official rate, and Apple's purchase list does not show coin amounts per pack, so we cannot convert this to dollars. A blog figure of 200 coins for $1.99 is also unverified.

Does NetShort have a yearly plan?

How do you cancel a NetShort subscription?

Cancel NetShort in the store you subscribed through, at least 24 hours before renewal. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → NetShort → Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → NetShort → Cancel.

Deleting the app does not cancel the VIP. If you paid on the NetShort website, the charge will not appear in Apple or Google settings; cancel through that account or your payment method. Store refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
